Before/After: How a mural instantly gave this dining area more depth

The room was already nicely furnished.

Warm colors, natural materials, coherent furniture – everything felt calm and harmonious. And yet, something was missing.

The wall behind the table remained empty. As a result, the room looked flatter in photos than it actually was. The gaze wandered through the room without finding a clear focus.

In pictures especially, this quickly creates an impression that many modern apartments unintentionally share: they look tidy, but interchangeable.

Why the room lost its impact despite beautiful furnishings

In open dining areas, the wall behind the table plays a central role. It takes up a lot of space in photos and influences the entire effect of the image.

If this surface remains undecorated, the room often lacks the very element that creates depth and structure.

Warm, minimalist interiors, in particular, quickly lose their presence as a result. The individual elements appear next to each other rather than with each other.

Why we chose a large-format motif

Instead of using many small decorative elements, we deliberately worked with a single large surface.

The floral motif not only brings color into the room but, above all, creates a clear visual centerpiece. The warm tones pick up the colors of the pendant light and the ceiling, while the green elements incorporate the wall color.

This creates a calmer overall image, even though the room itself was hardly changed.

The difference is immediately apparent in photos

After the change, the room looks more structured and at the same time more vibrant.

The eye immediately finds a focus. The dining area gains more presence and is more memorable. Especially in photos, this creates a higher-quality effect because the room no longer appears empty, but consciously designed.

Exactly this effect is particularly valuable in vacation rentals, boutique apartments, or open living areas.

Why large wall surfaces are often underestimated

When furnishing, many people focus first on furniture, lamps, or smaller details. The largest visible surfaces in the room often remain unnoticed.

Yet it is precisely these surfaces that determine how calm, high-quality, and complete a room feels.

Large-format wall murals can make all the difference right here – without overloading the room or redecorating it completely.

We show you how to integrate wall design into existing rooms step-by-step here.

Conclusion: The room wasn't empty before – but it lacked a focus

The change in this dining area shows how strongly individual surfaces influence the perception of a room.

The furnishings themselves were hardly changed. And yet, the room now feels significantly more complete, calmer, and higher-quality.

Not because more elements were added – but because the room now has a clear centerpiece.
